The nature around Sæby
Once again, Foto Factory has gone on an expedition into the Danish nature. We have gone to Sæby where we will find beautiful beaches with thousands of snails and mussel shells. We will also visit the Professor's Plantation which contains both forest and beach. We will take pictures along the way and expand the series of Denmark posters with pictures from the nature around Sæby.
Nature at Sæby Beach
It is exotic to stand on one of the many beaches around Sæby. The beaches are full of snails and seashells, waiting for a child to find them and fill their pockets. It is primarily the shells from the beautiful snail, Pelikanfod, that get attention. But it is incredible with the many small seashells lying in large piles on the beach. At the sight, you think of more exotic travel destinations than the east coast of North Jutland. It crunches when we walk along the beach and our pockets slowly get heavier, while we enjoy the tranquility and beautiful nature.
We capture the atmosphere in the late evening light with nature photos from the beach right by Sæby and the beautiful Nordstrand. We photograph the mussels and the characteristic coastal landscape with the many small coves.
Jerup Beach
Jerup beach is completely different with sand as far as the eye can see. It is enchanting to stand on the beach early in the morning at low tide. The large sandy beach lies bare and the horizon is lost in mist. The large flat beach is perfect for a day in nature. When we arrive at the beach, the mist lies like a thick blanket and it is still dark. The only sound is the ripple of the small waves washing over the sand. Slowly the mist rises and the sun breaks through and warms the open landscape. Farthest inland there is a single row of dunes with grass and herbs. The large grasses shine in the sun and the spiders wait for the web to dry.
The photographs from Jerup Strand capture the atmosphere of a magical morning. They are pictures with atmosphere and silence.
At Jerup Strand it is a great place to take a long walk along the beach and feel the fresh sea air. You can look for birds, collect shells and find tracks in the sand. It is a special sight with the small dinghies lying on the sand at low tide.
The Professor's Plantation and Beach
South of Sæby you will find the Professorens Plantage or Solsbæk Plantage as it is also called. It is a great nature experience to visit the plantation and the beach at any time of the year.
The plantation dates back to the 1940s and the sandy soil creates an open forest with vegetation on the forest floor. At the far end of the forest and dunes, the interaction between the coast, salt and wind has shaped the landscape. This is clearly visible in the outermost trees, which are worn and worn away by the wind and the salts from the sea.
The beach at Professorens Plantage is, like the other beaches near Sæby, full of mussels and snails. If it is windy it is nice to walk in the shelter behind the dune, along the water you can find shells and look for amber. Right where the small stream, Solsbæk, meets the sea there are extra many shells, lying in large piles. Seen from the air it looks like a river delta with oceans of mussel shells. It is a wonderful sight!
It's obvious to go for a longer walk that takes you through the forest, the dune heath and back along the beach.
Lyngså and Stensnæs Beach
If you visit Lyngså Strand out of season, you can have nature to yourself. It is a beautiful beach that invites you to take a longer walk south towards Stensnæs Flak. Along the water's edge lie large conch shells and on the beach there is a collection of mussel shells. Farther south at Stensnæs Flak there is a bird sanctuary for waterfowl. We have taken pictures from both beaches very early in the morning, where the landscape and the sea are completely still and waiting for the day.
