Scotland is not an easy place to be a nature photographer. We’ve been sitting for hours, waiting for the rain to stop or the fog to lift. The very changeable and unpredictable weather is one of the charms of Scotland. The weather can change fast, suddenly transforming a rainy and hopeless day into an adventure with the most dramatic light. Conversely, one can also become trapped on a mountaintop by a severe blizzard. On warm summer evenings, it’s necessary to cover up in order to keep mosquitoes away and it can be impossible to take a single photograph without it costing blood. Frequently, we’ve returned to the car without a single photograph and with boots and pockets filled with water.
